The HR Generalist performs HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with the Director of Human Resources in supporting multiple geographic regions. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, policy implementation, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

Responsibilities 

  • Pre-employment and on-boarding candidate functions
  • Process job posting forms and submit to Recruiter
  • Run DMV record / Process TB test information with candidate / Check fingerprint clearances
  • Track licenses and certifications to ensure they are current at time of hire (if required)
  • Communicate with Recruiter regarding who is receiving offers, draft offer letters and packets
  • Schedule and conduct new employee orientations
  • Format and update job descriptions
  •  Maintains personnel information and calculates payroll data (including related taxes) for approximately 100-130 employees
  • Ensures that the physical personnel files are organized, accurate and complete
  • Owns the HRIS database. Creates and runs a variety of reports from the HRIS system including new hires, terminations, turnover etc.
  • Answers outside inquiries such as employment and wage verifications
  • Ensures staff who drive for the organization have auto insurance on file and an acceptable DMV record
  • Maintain system for tracking to ensure that all staff licenses, certifications, auto insurance and TB testing & physical requirements are current
  • Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations.
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Reconciles benefit statements monthly
  • Responsible for workers compensation reporting including the OSHA 300 log
  • Function as the main administrator / training coordinator through the online learning management system.
  • Experience with local, state and federal wage and hour compliance (such as overtime, meal/rest periods)
  • Strong spreadsheet skills, with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • 2+ year HR experience required
  • Fingerprint clearance by CA DOJ and FBI, and any other mandated entity.
  • A valid California driver's license, personal automobile for use on the job, insurable by SHS’ insurance policy based on DMV record and personal vehicle insurance.
